Have you had the experience of realizing in a moment that what you've been hoping for and working toward is one day staring right at you?
I wanted to write a book.
And then one day a box came with books that had my name on it.
That presented me with a question: What Next?
I wasn't really sure.
There were a lot of options, so I just put one foot in front of the other and stood by my commitment to this book.
I was very curious.
You could say that "What Next?" became my anthem or mantra.
I stayed open to possibilities - I actually I prayed for them. And eventually, they started to show themselves.
I remembered that I'd been dreaming of speaking on a topic related to my life as part of a TEDx or another speaking event for almost fifteen years.
What Next?
I made a commitment to writing that talk. I wrote the talk with no plans to present it anywhere.
Again, I wondered "What Next?!"
I told people in my inner circle, my clients, my colleagues and women in my courses that I had a talk that I wanted to give.
Martha Beck says, "Magic is the thing that wants to happen next."
You are looking at a Keynote Speaker for my first gig at an Annual Conference.
What Next?
Your guess is as good as mine.
This past weekend I was at Kripalu for a three day workshop with Elizabeth Gilbert.
She shared her theories on love and fear, on shame, boundaries and forgiveness, and the mysterious ways life works to help us grow. (She also shared that Martha Beck quote above!)
We journaled a bunch and at the end of our retreat we created a poem from just a few sentences that had some resonance to us personally.
Here is mine:
What Next?
Fear will take me down at the knees
Perhaps an Unseen Solution Exists, Naomi. P.A.U.S.E
Chose curiosity over of fear (We experience one or the other, never both)
Stay aware, stay open and be ready
You know how to do this!
Perhaps it will feel like a song: Doodely doodely doo!
What do you wish for next?
